Hebrew 11:6 says, “… without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.”

Because we are children of God, we seek the approval of God. It is God whom we seek to please. But what happens when we lose sight of God? Do we stop seeking approval?

Losing sight of God does not change the fact that we will still long for approval, for validation, for positive reinforcement. If we do not get these things from God, we will try to get them from someone else. When this happens to us, then we can expect disappointment because that someone else will sooner or later fail us. And disappointment when not treated properly will lead to despair, and despair when allowed to linger will lead to depression which is nothing less than spiritual paralysis.

Children of God cannot try to please both God and man at the same. It never works.

What works is this: Always seek the approval of God. Be motivated by doing His will. Doing God’s will guarantees success, and success always satisfies. Man will always notice success, and will approve of it.
