There are two things wrong in Eve’s understanding of God’s word.

Previously, we mentioned one of them, and that is adding or touch it to God’s command. Can you spot the other one?

Here’s what God said and what Eve told the serpent:

God: From any tree of the garden you may eat freely; but from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat from it you will surely die.

Eve: From the fruit of the trees of the garden we may eat, but from the fruit of the tree which is in the middle of the garden, God has said, “You shall not eat from it or touch it, or you will die.”

The devil has not changed his tactic much since Eden. It is because he is convinced that it will keep on working. So, watch out. Make sure that you get God’s commands word for word. And watch the people you care most about. The devil will usually attack the weakest link in your chain of loved ones to get to you.

And be sure there is someone watching your back.

Two things are wrong in Eve’s understanding of God’s word. Lets be sure that we do not commit the same mistake when we quote God.

Don’t miss the other tree in the middle of the garden.
