It is recorded in John 6:14-15 that after the people saw the miraculous sign that Jesus did, they began to say, “Surely this is the Prophet who is to come into the world.” Jesus, knowing that they intended to come and make him king by force, withdrew again to a mountain by himself  (NIV).

The kingmakers of the entertainment world brought us two larger than life icons: Elvis, the King of Rock and MJ, the King of Pop. Surely, they will never be forgotten; they will live forever. The recording industry and talented impersonators will make certain of that.

The problem is that the world never delivers. Whether its the entertainment world, the wide world of sports, the world of the rich and famous, or whatever, at the end of the day, they all fail to deliver on their promises.

Elvis and Michael shared the same fate. Lisa Marie who knew them both testifies to that. Those who became fans of either or both, are left with a hollow feeling inside that bites into their sense of purpose.

There is indeed a void inside the human soul. A void that only Jesus Christ can fill. Jesus rejected the promise of power, fame and fortune when He was tempted in the wilderness.

We would do well to follow in His footsteps.
